“Bad counsel goes worse for those who give it

About Me

My name is Camila Cuevas. I am an economist and social scientist with experience in public policy, applied research, strategic planning, organisational development, and gender-responsive approaches.

I founded PonderAz Services to support organisations and institutions facing complex decisions, where evidence, moral reflection, and social context matter as much as outcomes.

I am deeply motivated to support others and contribute to meaningful change. I am an empathetic and positive person, with a strong self-directed learning mindset and a natural curiosity about how systems, people, and decisions interact.

My work is grounded in critical and strategic thinking, situational and anticipatory awareness, pattern recognition, and strong analytical, management, and communication skills. I am comfortable shifting across domains and perspectives, which allows me to connect evidence, context, and values in complex decision-making processes.

My experience

I have close to 15 years of experience working in public policy in Chile, both as a consultant and within government institutions. My work has included advising public institutions and non-profit organisations on strategic planning, conducting research to inform decision-making in areas such as employment, education, and health, and working directly inside public bodies, including the National Statistics Institute and the Health Superintendency. Since 2025 I collaborate with Governance and Integrity International as Advisor and Trainer in moral judgement and integrity systems.

These experiences have given me an integral understanding of how decisions are shaped at different levels: within political leadership, among technical teams, and through negotiation and prioritisation processes. I have seen how, at times, decisions are made without sufficient information and how, even when evidence is available, it is often not enough on its own.

As the Chilean planner Carlos Matus observed, “What concerns each actor in the face of reality can be very different, and it can be a serious situational error to assume that others value the same questions as we do.” This does not mean that one perspective is right and another is wrong, but rather that we are not observing, valuing, or weighing the same elements. My work seeks to make these differences visible, navigable, and productive.
